On my drive to work this morning, I was praying and giving thanks for my blessings.
I paused to take a drink of water between thoughts.
“Have you ever thanked me for the water?”
Well, I thought…….. I’m not sure.
I have, I think, given thanks for the beauty of waterfalls and for the glory of rivers flowing, and sunrises over the water, but for the water itself?
The one thing that no life on earth would survive without. Simple, plentiful, clean water.
Hmmm……..
“Have you ever been without? Have you ever had to walk miles to supply your daily need for water? Have you ever endured drought that wiped out a year of crops, killed your livestock, threatened your very existence on earth?
No, Lord, I haven’t.
“How do you get your water?”
Well, I turn the faucet, or open a bottle, or get it from just about anywhere.
“Well?”
Thank you, God, for the water-for the life force of it,
for the sustenance it provides, for the quenching of thirst,
for the flow of rivers, the rolling tides, for the renewal of a rainfall,
and for the rainbow that is formed from water and reminds us of GOD’s promise to us.
Thank you for the glaciers, for the dew, for the hail, for the tears.
Thank you, Lord for giving the water to the world!
