“ENLIGHTENMENT”

Haven’t we heard a lot about this? 

Many claim to be on the “pathway to enlightenment”.  My assumption is that they are trying to learn and become a being of light.  Whatever that means to them.

Enlighten definition (in Strongs NEW TESTAMENT Dictionary 5461) enlighten, illuminate, make to see, take off the cover, make clear, declare, explain………

Knowledge definition (in Strongs OLE TESTAMENT Dictionary 1843, 1844) to know, knowledge, knowledge within GOD, Knowledge of GOD………..

I have found, that the more I read, the more I know, the more I understand………..

I am left feeling that I don’t know enough, don’t understand enough, haven’t read enough……

Therefore, I don’t and won’t consider myself “Enlightened”.  

Instead, I am grateful that the words, the knowledge, the understanding is given to LIGHTEN  my pathway, to help me navigate through the dark areas, to shine light on the obstacles and dead-end pathways, crumbling roads, detours and cliffs.

How much more difficult would my journey be without the lighting of the pathway?  

How often have I been distracted by the flashing, shiny, false lights that are all around me?

Do these distracting flashes cause me to lose sight of the ever present beacon that is lighting my pathway?  Sometimes, yes.

I am not striving for “Enlightenment”, but rather, I continue to follow the lighted pathway that is before me.
